This beginner’s course is intended for anyone with a passion for interior decoration, who might be looking for inspiration for decorating their own home or is considering interior design and decoration as a possible future career.  The course will be very hands-on and structured around real rooms.  It will give you an understanding of the basic guiding principles of interior design. The course will help you to develop your own personal style and give you the confidence to tackle future projects avoiding costly mistakes and disappointment.





 

Entry requirements: High school diploma and an adequate knowledge of English.

Topic 1:  Introduction/Colour/Styles/Scale

The course objectives and materials will be reviewed. Then we will analyze a colour wheel and discuss the impact of colour on interiors. Next, we will look at components of different design styles. Finally, you will be introduced to scales such as 1:20 and 1:50 and will do some simple practice plans.

Topic 2:  Briefs, Drawings, Mood Boards, Samples

We will look at project briefs and how an interior designer communicates his/her design ideas to the client through drawings and visual aids such as mood and sample boards. We will then discuss materials and suppliers.

Topic 3:  Living Rooms/ Dining Rooms

The particular needs of these rooms will be addressed with particular reference to furniture layouts, material selections, focal points, lighting and accessories.  Drawings will be studied and practiced.

Topic 4: Bedrooms & Project Presentation Skills

The particular needs of bedrooms will be addressed with particular reference to furniture layouts, material selections, focal points, lighting and accessories.  Project presentation skills will be discussed also.

Topic 5:

• Project Presentations.
• Written Test on all course topics
• Feedback on test

Certificate: If students successfully complete the final course project/test/course activities/ homework, they will receive a ‘Letter of Completion’ Certificate which is a useful starting point into a new career of Interior Design or Decoration. The final project work will be graded by the tutor and one other assessor. This grade goes towards assessing their final grade for the Diploma or Higher Diploma. For students that are ‘borderline’ between grades, the test result, course activities and homework will be a deciding factor.
If a student misses more than one lesson, he/she is required to repeat the whole course at the original fee paid if he/she wishes to obtain the ‘Letter of Completion’ Certificate.If a student does not pass the course, he/she has the option of repeating the course again (current course fee will be applied) or the student can obtain private tuition (details of duration/fees will be discussed/agreed with the individual).

Venues: Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Diploma: If students successfully complete 6 or more courses with Full Circle Design FZLLC, they will receive a graded Diploma from Full Circle Design FZLLC. To maximize their grade, it is recommended that they demonstrate competency in residential/commercial/ professional design and Computer Aided Design (CAD).If you qualify, please ask for the application form and submit it at least 10 days in advance to Sharon at [email protected] to ensure that your Diploma is ready on time.

Materials needed:
1. Measuring Tape
2. A4 Graph Paper
3. A4 Tracing Paper
4. Glue Stick
5. Scissors
6. Pencil
7. Architect’s Scaled metric ruler with 1:50 and 1:20 scales
8. Interior Design Magazines/Catalogues or laptop or iPad to search for images
9. Foam Board (approx. 100cms x 75cms)
10. Mounting Spray
11. Double-sided tape
12. Heavy duty mounting tape
13. Notepad and pen
14. Colouring pencils (at least 36 colours)

Notes: Not all the materials are required for the first lesson. You will be advised which ones are needed.

  1. Bookings need to be made at least 10 days in advance prior to a course or workshop. (Contact us if you miss the 10- day deadline as there still may be a place available)
  2. All NEW students must complete the registeration form and send it to [email protected] prior to the course or workshop. Failure to comply may delay your admission into a course or workshop. Download the form here
  3. All payments are 100% advance and non-refundable. However, if a course is cancelled, there will be a full refund.
  4. The fee payment can be made by one of the following methods:
    • Cash or cheque(payable to 'full Circle Design FZLLC') to a nominated staff member (prior appointment necessary).
    • Online by Pay Pal- http://www.fullcircle-design.com/interior-design-courses/ (note that there will be an additional transaction fee by Pay Pal on top of the quoted course/workshop fee)

  5. A minimum of 4 students is required to run a course/workshop or it will be cancelled.
  6. It is not possible to transfer the fees to another course/workshop or dates unless a course/workshop has been cancelled.
  7. Students must present/submit their final project in the last lesson.
  8. If students miss more than one lesson, they must repeat the course at the original rate paid, to receive the ‘Letter of Completion’ Certificate to proceed to the next course.
  9. If students miss one lesson, it cannot be repeated at a later stage.
